Sewing Notions Gift Pail - Epiphany Crafts DT Project.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I spent my Saturday night - the PERFECT, the most beautiful way possible.  My husband and I want to a fundraising gala to raise money for the Children's Hospital.  My hubby's workmate's daughter had an unfortunate, tragic accident during their family vacation 4 years ago, and she passed away at the most lovely tender age of 5 years.  She was beautiful and so full of love.  I saw from her smile how she must've brought laughter and warmth to everyone, especially her family.  So, on her first anniversary of her passing, the family decided to hold an annual Sunshine gala to raise money so the hospital can purchase a machine for the intensive Pediatric unit.  This machine is called the Extracorporeal Life Support Program and can keep the child's heart beating, their lungs working even if their's stop.  It is a very expensive machine and a machine that not all hospitals have.  They have already implemented the machine last September - and have saved 3 precious lives.  The doctors from the hospital were there to let us know how this event made a difference to 3 families already... Anyway, the whole night was emotionally so touching.  It just felt so good to be there.

Okay, going back to my project - (got a little sidetracked!) - this week over at Epiphany Crafts, we're celebrating Mother's Day and sharing some project ideas in case you haven't got anything special for your mom yet!

Another member from our team and I are up today on their blog, and pretty much did the same idea - making a pin cushion! I guess great minds think alike!

It's a super easy project - you don't need any cutting machines for this! :)

Cute, isn't it? I took a clear pail and just embellished it and made a pin cushion on top!



I used the pretty papers from Echo Park again (This & That - Graceful). Just LOVE LOVE that line so much!



I just clumped up all sorts of sewing embellishments and look how beautiful it became!



I took a strip of paper and lace, sewed it on to a strip of burlap and adhered to the pail. So pretty!



The top of pin cushion was decorated with adorable Epiphany epoxies and buttons to dress it up.

 ...and when you open the pail, it's a perfect place to fit in sewing notions and even if the pail is opened, you can still use the pin cushion!



The pincushion was made by measuring the inside diameter of the the lid. I cut out the same size circle from a cardboard, and wrapped it around with a burlap, stuffed with cushion stuffing inside. The burlap was adhered to the cardboard by glue gun, which was then adhered to the pail lid. That's it! Makes a super thoughtful pretty little gift for your mom!

Okay, I've been waiting for this day for SOOO LONG! (If you are coming from a ***** blog, you already must know the 'announcement', but just pretend you didn't know - don't wreck the surprise for others!)

First of all - Happy National Scrapbook Day! How many of you are crafting out there? I know that there's many companies that are having challenges and sales, so hope that you all join in the fun!

I've made a layout (yup, it IS a LAYOUT!!).  For those of you that follow my work, you all know that I don't do that much layouts! But I thought that I'd get into the spirit of this day and contribute to it!

Anyway, so, you are CURIOUS about my ANNOUNCEMENT, aren't you?  or would you RATHER see my layout?  I don't know which you'd rather see, but I couldn't keep it in any longer, so I decided to make an annoucement as my layout.  Pretty clever of me, isn't it?  At least I thought so!

So... here goes!

I have been selected as one of six NEW very special ladies to join the Unity Stamp Company Design Team. The team is quite big and they are ALL super talented!!! I am just in awe with their creativity, and I am super blessed to be included in this team!  I have gotten to know the girls in the team a bit as well as some staff members that work at Unity, and they are all so welcoming and very fun! Just like how I'd imagined the Unity Stamp Company to be... the stamps are full of inspiring, positive sentiments and art, and reflects wonderfully on how they are as a company, too!

I used the {FABULOUS} line from Simple Stories (it IS FABULOUS!) and six different stamp sets from Unity to make this.

BANNERS:  Why wouldn't I put banners?  It's a celebration! I was tempted to put balloons and confetti, too! lol...




JOURNALING:  makes the layout so much more special :)   I never do scrapbook layouts as I never know what to write inside the journaling boxes.  But I love reading them.  I love the fact that you can write down your feelings, your thoughts, your reaction and your joy.




This is just a glimpse of the itty bitty's that I ordered back in December...  I love the packaging that it comes in!

Let's Toast for the Grad! - Epiphany Crafts project.

Hey all! Missed me???  Don't worry, you're in for a treat - I can GUARANTEE another post by the end of the week! You won't want to miss that one - I did a LAYOUT (yes, you've heard that right!) - for National Scrapbook Day and I have not done that in over a year, so it's definitely a milestone for me!

Okay, back to this post... This week over at Epiphany Crafts, all the design team members are featuring inspirational ideas to make cards and gifts for the grad & teachers.  It's that time again... hard to believe it's already May!

I decided to put together a little PARTAAY for the grad, with a card, a champagne and a glass with mints.  I was all inspired when I saw the cutest graduation cap box that Mary made the other week.  I've been wanting that file FOREVER!!! This is an SVG file and was cut with my eCAL software using the Sizzix Eclips.

(*For those of you that are contemplating on a cutter, Eclips is definitely my choice! I have two other machines, and out of the three, I find that Eclips cuts the most quickly and quietly.  I also find that the software virtual mat is most accurate to the actual mat, so you know exactly where the items are going to be cut on the mat (it also has the laser feature, too - which lets you know EXACTLY where it's going to be cut!) I also love the fact that it does cut closest to the edge of the paper, so less paper wasting for me! Yay!)

Anyway, going back to my post and my project here... :)

So, what you see here is that graduation cap box, but I shrunk it down, only used the top part of that file and put it over the champagne glass instead! I think this would make the PERFECT favor for a grad party!

You can't party without the champagne bottle now! I just added some embellishments and covered the bottle wrapper and you can totally customize it to your occasion!

All I did here was cut out stamped stars and attached it with a wire and washi tape! EASY!!

The rolled up paper makes a perfect scroll and and adds so much to the look!

A little bird told me...

Hey all!

Whoa - where does the time go!?!?  It's been 11 days since my last post (how can I let that happen!) and I've been just busy as ever!

I have done a bit of crafting here and there, and I do have projects to share, but it's all to be posted later on, so I had nothing to share... until today! Last night, I finally managed to make a card, my first ever tag card! I've seen so many pretty ones online, and I wanted to try it out! I used a tag from SVG Cuts Tags Galore SVG Collection, but they's also many tags here as well. All you have to do is to attach two tags side by side and weld it together.

This whole card was inspired by Unity's one of a kind stamp set (Melody Ross - her art work is beautiful!).  The feel of the set is vintage and cute, and was shouting out October Afternoon to me.  Have I told you that I LOVE LOVE LOVE October Afternoon?  I have pretty much all their paper lines, and I can't even use them because it's so pretty and I want to keep them just the way they are! I had to force myself to cut these up! lol...

So, I used my 5 & Dime papers (except for the paper inside the card is from Rocket Age), my crinkle ribbons and cotton lace, my Papertrey Ink Chai ink, wooden spool, twine... all sorts of things that seem to fit the style.

And so, here's the card!



I thought that it would be really cute to use the bird, but use it under a layer - in this case, behind a window. In case you're looking for windows to use on your cards, this SVG Cuts file is perfect (Townhouse Windows SVG Collection). It has 6 different types so you can always find a perfect one to use for your card! (Mine is the first one in that set)



My fave part of this card is of course the curtain rod - made of wooden spool and dowel covered with lace.



I've also been into paper piercing the stamps. (Yes, I do have Copics, and I am STILL planning on using them, but this gives it a clean and simple look to the appearance of the stamp.)





The button that you see here is my custom made button from Epiphany Crafts using Round 25 button.

...and inside the card is this prettiest sentiment. I kept the inside simple, to allow space to write a message on the card. It never makes sense to me when  I buy a card and it's so busy inside, and I don't know where to write my message... or worse yet, I RECEIVE one of these cards with busy inside and     you have to go looking for a sender's name... squished into a corner...Does that make sense? Personally I like cards that have more than just a name... (I got the perfect branch from the Strawberry Lane SVG Collection!)

This site is under construction...

Well... no.  Not really.  Just thought that it was a cute name to give my latest project.

So, I was inspired.  This new kit that SVG Cuts just released is darn too adorable, and made me wanna play with it.  I knew that this was up my son's alley and I HAD to show it to him.   Of course, his reaction was "I wanna have this!" He loves yellow.. anything yellow, so another A HA moment for Thienly... make him one of construction trucks....  Well, the easiest one that I was able to think of was a dump truck.  I'm not attempting to make a bull dozer, or not going anywhere close to a crane truck.

Thus, late last night.. (the usual crafting time for me)... I was making a toy for my 5 yr old son... and kept telling myself what a cool mommy I am... even though I'm yawning and my bed was calling out my name.  I wanted to surprise him in the morning, and I wanted him to be excited about it just like when he saw Mary's version of the truck.

Anyway, here it is!



Cute, isn't it? Clear windows, jewel brads for lights, it was all too fun to make!



Isn't that the cutest dirt you ever saw? I actually wanted to take some rubber mulch from our playground for photos, and my son insisted that that would get it dirty and he didn't want that. So... paper dirt it was! I cut little pieces of paper and scrunched it all up... I must've done couple hundred of these. Here, you can see my labor of love upclose :)



So... you're asking... does this dump truck can actually dump? Yes! The original file had a open box at the base of the truck... I closed up the box, and added another box on top! I had the PERFECT washi tape (black stripe) so I used that to connect the box to the truck.  Whoa! I'm hearing that you wanna try this? Well... I've designed these parts, and you can simply download them to add to your kit! (see below)

Whoa - that's a whole lot of dirt!



You know another cool thing about this? The door on one side opens! This one, I just had to cut manually out by hand, but my son loved it! He now wants me to make a paper construction guy to put inside! What have I got myself into? lol...



... and of course, I had to insert a black paper folded into a 'seat' inside.

Speaking of construction sites, you need some signs and pylons. The signs were made just using octagon and rounded triangle from the basic shapes in my software, but the pylons were made from the party hat in this kit. It was just perfect as the sides that flip out was used to adhere to the rounded square base. (This rounded square base is also in the download.) The party hat was cut at 2.730" wide.



So, to make this - I used the new kit: Ryan's Play Date SVG Kit and Jonathan's Bears SVG Collection. I made the truck the recommended size in the PDF, and the tires came from the second kit under the 'Construction Bear' file. The tires were cut at 3.00" (cut 2) and cut a smaller yellow circle and embossed it with Clockworks Cuttlebug folder.

The parts that you'll need to make this is found in this download - Dump Truck Parts.

When you first open the file, ungroup.  The first one should be cut at 2.853" wide by 3.718" high. This is the part needed to cover the open truck of the original file.

The second one is the actual 'dump' box and you'll find that one side will be longer than the rest. Score it at 0.5" and 0.75" from the end which will hang over the truck front. This should be cut at 5.476" wide by 5.307" high.

The last that you'll see there is for the base of the pylons. (Pylon dimensions noted above)

Okay, sorry to make my post long.. but just had to give you more inspiration going back to my past 'construction' ideas...

Just thought that I'd share a quick card that I whipped up really REALLY late last night... I think that I was wired.  My hubby went to bed at 11pm... and think that I wasted an hour just browsing things online... then, I decided to be productive and make a quick card.

I pulled out my fave Unity stamps again and decided to focus on Simple Stories stamps.  I been liking a lot of their images that have been coming out and realized that I have a few sets that I can probably pull something off.  So, here it is - using 4 different sets.



It's on a simple side, (thus Simple Stories) but if you realize... each of these rulers were stamped separately and connected together.



I stamped them on 3 different sheets from Echo Park's Note to Self papers and cut them out. (Do you like these papers??  You can get them here and with coupon: modpaperie - get additional 20% off!)
