Summer Lanterns Facebook Challenge!!!!

Hello again!

I am so excited to be hosting a challenge right on my Mod Paperie Facebook page!  I received so many interests on the Summer Lanterns that I made - and many have already told me that they've purchased the files, so I thought that it would be really fun to have a Lantern Challenge!

In order to qualify for the challenge:

1.  You MUST use the Party Lantern file from MygraficoThis wonderful file was designed by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff (blog - The Frugal Crafter, FB page)- isn't this awesome??

This is only $3.00 and you can have sooo much fun with this!

2.  You MUST post your pics on the Mod Paperie Facebook wall. (I am sorry for those non-Facebookers... I actually thought about doing it here, but I don't have the inlinkz subscription to be able to do it... :( )

3.  Limit of 2 entries per person.

4.  You can do whatever you like to it - can use any other SVGs, cartridges, ribbons, buttons.. anything else that you think it may work.. get creative with it!  There is no minimum number of lanterns that you need to make.

5.  Your picture MUST be uploaded on to the wall by midnight PST July 10.  Make sure you let me know your blog link, too, if you have one!

Now, on to the prize... :)

Mygrafico has generously donated me the prize for my challenge!  Go over to their Facebook page, 'like' them if you haven't yet, and tell them thanks!

One random winner will receive up to $10 to Mygrafico store.  (The $10.00 worth of products only redeemed when store is not on sale and it could be combination of at the most 2 products.)   I just LOVE this store - they sell SVGs (the shoes and the beach pail that I made was from this store as well!), paper packs and graphic sets, and digital stamps!!!!  This store would pretty much cater to any of you crafting fans!

Okay, that's it!  I will look forward to seeing pretty lanterns all over my Facebook wall!

Summer bookmarks - Paper Dolls kick off project.

Hello, everyone!
It was quite the eventful weekend with the Summer Shindig Blog Hop!  I hope that you all enjoyed visiting all the blogs and seeing all the fun things we made!  It was so fun for me, too, to get lots of comments on the Summer Lanterns (I have never surpassed over 100 comments on any of my projects ever, until this one!), and lots of new faces coming to my blog and Facebook!  Welcome everyone! I'm glad to have you here!

Anyway, for all the new followers -  my uber talented friend, Tamara, from Happy Life, Crafy Wife and I started a new SVG blog called The Paper Dolls.  We have weekly SVG challenges (always announced on Mondays), and feature a SVG artist/or someone special every Friday.  We also have SVG project linking parties, too, every second Tuesday.  So... if you haven't joined my other blog, please do so!

My post today is for Paper Dolls's new challenge kick off project.  Every week, so far, has been free SVG files for people to download and make something out of it.  (Go check out the past files - they are super cute!) Today, is different.  The challenge this week is to make any SVG project, but MUST use a stamp somewhere in your project.  One of the prizes for a winner is sponsored by Sarah, from The Pink by Design Store, so I thought that it was suitable to use her stamps in my project!

What I decided to do was to make "Happy Summer" fun gift for my kids, but also make it kinda educational :)  My oldest loves reading, but easily gets distracted by all "other" things during the summer.  (It's more the Wii, DS, iPod, computer... ) - so I thought that it would be really cute to make some summer bookmarks for him and put together some books for him to read.  And, wouldn't it be cute to make several bookmarks and have a container for it???

Then, I came across this cutest beach pail (again from one of my fave SVG designers - Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Summer Fun SVG Collection) and decided that would be the container that I'd make for my bookmarks!

Here's the project:

This is the little note I wrote for him.

Photobucket

A beach pail is incomplete without a shovel :)

Photobucket

The handle is attached to the pail with a brad. This allows the handle to move, whereas an eyelet would be secured into one position.

Photobucket

I wrapped some thicker jute twine around a wooden stick to give a little more beachy feel to the umbrella.

Photobucket

Here are the bookmarks.  Again, sorry for the picture overload...  I'm starting to really LOVE taking pictures, and I just have to share them all! LOL!

Photobucket

Hahaha... I've been bugging my hubby to fix our front porch for few years now, but now I realize, this old wood look makes a perfect floordrop for my projects! Now, I'm content that my hubby hasn't done anything to it yet! LOL!

And, some bookmarks upclose :)

Photobucket

I put on the Glossy Accents on the sun - adds a little more shine to the sun!

Photobucket

... and the final pic all together..

All the other files are from SVG Attic's Just Beachy SVG and Cape Cod SVG Collections and the twine are from The Twinery.  The paper I used here is Splash Collection from Echo Park.  All my stamps are from Summer Vacation set from Pink By Design Store.

Hope you liked my project!

I have another project coming up this Thursday with the release of My Thoughts Exactly Stamps! It'll be my first Design Team project there, and will have a blog hop with Alyssa from My Thoughts Exactly and 5 other team members.  It'll be lots of fun, so don't forget to come back here!

Also, don't forget - all the Summer Collections from Lettering Delights are only on sale until June 30th!  It's all half price, so it's a great time to stock up!  Graphics, papers, SVGs, doodlebats... Fun, fun, fun!   I definitely stocked up!

Oh, and I just purchased the Simple Shapes Bundle from them as well - and it has over 780 one layer graphics from 50 themed collections!  It's $49 for only two weeks and then it's goes back up to $150, so hurry!  (You can even use the 25% off coupon from your invoice, too!) This is the first set from LD that has multiple cutting formats - that means one can pretty much cut on any machine!  It's all simple stuff, but this is great for making quick cards, and making vinyl wall art!  I am seeing more possibilities the more I look at it! These pics are just some of the cut files you get with this!!!

Okay, that's it!
Have a great day!!! :)

Summer Lanterns for those perfect summer evenings :)

Welcome to the Summer Shindig blog hop!  Are you excited??? I hope you are, 'cause I'm so excited to be a part of this amazing group of talented crafty ladies!!!!!  To celebrate the beginning of summer, we thought that it would be really fun to make something to inspire you to craft for various summer events and parties.  Hence, the name Summer Shinding was born :)

Now, if you just happen to stumble upon here, the blog hop actually starts on Belinda's blog (Bee's Hive O'Drama), so please go there first and come back here, as I'm the second on the list!  You won't miss me too long! LOL!  Belinda has been busy organizing this blog hop event for all of us, so if you could thank her, that'll be much appreciated.  She's done an awesome job of keeping us all in the loop and getting us together.  Thank you, Bee!

So, back to my project...  I wanted to make something different, and a 3D project, 'cause I LOVE making things in dimension.  You probably know that about me... One thing that I really love is to sit on the patio on those nice and warm summer evenings and relax the night away :)  and then, it just hit me! Aha!!!  Lanterns! That'll be really fun and different! So, that's what I did!

I found the lantern base over at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Party Lantern SVG Templates  and then I decided to change a few things to make it my own :)  I took the base lantern, and for the lantern light openings, I customized it to fit the theme of each lantern.  (You'll see what I mean!)

I made 5 lanterns in total, all having different themes to do with summer.  All the files I used are from Lettering Delights.  I was a little unsure of how it was going to turn out, but I'm very excited by the way it turned out and the lanterns actually work! Bonus! Even if it didn't, it's cute anyway!

So, are you ready to see????

WARNING:  I took A LOT of photos, and I'm going to warn you in advance that you're probably gonna get a picture overload... but trust me, they may look the same, but it's all different!

Here it is!!!! OMGosh! You don't know how excited I am to be showing you this!

Photobucket

Isn't it pretty? I hung them on a thick paper twine, and it looks so festive!  I used the Summer Days Echo Park Paper Collection, along with their Dots and Stripes Paper for my whole project! All twine used here are from The Twinery.

Photobucket

So now, I'm warning you again, there's LOTs of pictures! I'll show you each lantern two sides at a time!

Here's the beach one!

Photobucket

I cut out water splashes out from the lantern base. It's lined with vellum from inside to show through the lights.  I used Soak Up the Sun SVG Collection for the cuts, the sun is from Pucker Up SVG Collection and the waves are from Seven Seas SVG Collection. Here's the other side..

Photobucket

Here's summer outdoors lantern!

Photobucket

I used jewelry wires for the kite tail and bee and butterfly antennae :)  The clouds are cut out from Balloon Craze SVG Collection and the rest of the cuts are from Banner Day SVG Collection (kite, flower & tree) (this one is free!!! by the way when you sign up for an account there), Sweet Nothing Gift Card Holders SVG Collection (bee & tree), Sweet Nothings SVG Collection (bird), Cloud Nine SVG Collection (birdhouse) and Summer Treats SVG Collection (border strip).  Grass strip is from Easter Morning Egg Hunt SVGCuts Collection.

Photobucket

Here's the summer treats lantern!

Photobucket

All of the cuts are from Summer Treats SVG Collection.  I put the sprinkles on with Ranger Pearls.

Photobucket

Some details are way too small here to cut out (the lantern measures about 3" wide on 4 sides and about 5" high) so I added in the small details by hand.

Here's the ocean lantern :)

Photobucket

Of course, here, all the faces were drawn with my hands. I got a little creative and glued loops of twine on the lantern to make it look like water bubbles. I think it's cute! Of course, my lantern light holes are bubbles, too :)

Photobucket

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Something Fishy SVG Collection! So adorable!

Lastly, but not least, and I think that this is my fave one - the BBQ lantern!

Photobucket

I love all the BBQ cutouts! They are all from Backyard Fun SVG Collection, except for the frame and pennants are from Banner Day SVG Collection.  Makes me hungry looking at my cutouts! LOL!

Photobucket

I got creative here again and put pennants all around the top part of lantern. It completes the party look :)

All of the lantern top straps are made from Rosie's Ribbon Strips SVG Collection from SVGCuts.

Okay, so you wanna see how these are lit up??? I know you do! I used these battery operated tealights that I had (from Ikea - few years ago - so don't go there thinking that it's still there!) and put them inside!

Photobucket

So, this pic was taken at dusk..

Photobucket

and this is later in the evening... actually about 10pm here where I live.

Photobucket

Isn't it pretty???

I hope that you like my project, and that you're not totally bored with all my pics!

Anyway, so I've got a couple of blog candy for ya!

I actually had several things that I was going to use for the giveaways, until today, it occurred to me that with the Canada Post strike going on, it wouldn't get very far... so I scrapped that idea.  Instead, I'm offering two gift cards to two random winners!

One is for $10 to Lettering Delights, and the other one is for $10 SVG Cuts.  Are you interested??? Of course you are!

To be eligible:
1.  Please go like my FB page: Mod Paperie. or if you don't do FB, then let me know so!
2.  Come back here, and leave a comment! That's it!

The comment must be made during the blog hop days to be eligible.  Then next Wednesday June 30th, I will be picking two winners! Sounds easy, right?

Oh, and Lettering Delights are having a 50% sale on all their Summer Collections, so make sure that you get them before June 30th!  Most of my project can be obtained for half price right now!

Thanks for coming to visit here, and yes, I'm gonna miss ya, but I'll get you going over to the next blog:  Alyssa from My Thoughts Exactly!

My first ever step card - and why haven't I made one before????

I feel so good today 'cause I actually had time to get "other" crafting done!  Aren't you proud of me??? I have been so swamped lately that all I could do was the Paper Doll projects!  I was really afraid that you may get bored or me or something - and say - oh, I'm not going to check out Mod Paperie anymore - she doesn't have any new stuff...  so...... I'm going to try all my best from here on!

So, what initially inspired me to make something was because of SVG Attic's challenge going on (ends tomorrow evening 5PM PT).  I've gotten to know the SVG artist, Jessica, really well and I just wanted to show support and my love for her first ever challenge!  For your info - she just started out her online store, and she's truly amazing - LOVE LOVE LOVE all her designs!

As well, Alyssa, the owner of My Thoughts Exactly (my DT company!) is running a challenge on her Facebook page for her step card week.  All you have to do is to make a step card, post it on their wall, and you'll be entered to win $5 GC to Lettering Delights!

So, anyway, the requirements for SVG Attic's challenge was to use one of these collections:  Luau, Little League or Cape Cod sets.  I decided to make a step card using Cape Cod collection, and add some Just Beachy embellishments in there as well!  Smart of me, huh?  Kill two birds with one stone!

It was my first ever step card that I made - and I had a lot of fun with it!  I don't know why I haven't made one before!  You'll for sure be seeing more step cards from me in the future!!!

So, ready to see my card I made??? Ta-da!!!!

Photobucket

Do you like???

Photobucket

The side view! Even though I have so many foam tape behind the cuts, it actually closes very nicely!

Photobucket

The lighthouse...

Photobucket

The boat in the background... you can't really see the waves, but it's there!

Photobucket

... and the sentiment comes from Pink by Design "Summer Vacation" stamp set. Doesn't it totally go with this card???

I also love all my Maraschino twine additions here from The Twinery!

Oh, and I also sprayed the base cardstock with Tim Holtz Glimmer Mist - Leather to give kinda sandy look.

Anyway, that's the card - hope you like!

I also wanted to let you know that you're also in for a very exciting weekend!!!! Me, along with other talented crafty girls are hosting a Summer Shinding Blog Hop!  I'm so excited to share my project with you, so please come back on Friday to see it!  I'm going to have some blog candies as well, so fun! Fun! Fun!

Hope to see you all here!

Just catchin' up... and my news if you haven't seen it... :)

Hello everyone! It's another crazy week that I've had and I keep wondering when is it ever going to slow down???  I could barely get down to my crafting chair to craft!  My son's birthday is coming up this weekend, so I was rushing all over the place to find the party favors, and the cake (and no, I'm not baking it! but I do have a good reason - he wanted an ice cream cake!), and of course getting all ready for family birthday party as well.

Anyway, this was announced way back this Monday, and I feel terrible that I'm blogging about this sooo late!  However, I'm super excited to announce that I am on My Thoughts Exactly Design Team!  This blog/store is run by Alyssa, and she's super nice and love her taste.  She's launching her stamp line and I am one of the lucky 6 members!

Here are the rest of the members!

Kick off project for the 3rd Paper Dolls Challenge!

Hello girls!  It's another Challenge Mondays over at the Paper Dolls blog!  This week, we got my wonderful friend Bee (Bee's Hive O'Drama) to create challenge SVGs for us.  She loved the images that we used on our Paper Dolls blog, and was inspired to make something similar with it.

She created these super cute SVGs for us:

Photobucket

Aren't they cute???  I contemplated on what I should make with these, especially because I LOVE the house file, but I also had these super adorable 3D high heels SVGs that I had purchased a while back and was dying to try making them! So, that's what I did and decided to use her scalloped heart buttons and frames to embellish my shoes!

Ta-da!!!! Here they are!!!  I think that my inner desire to become a shoe designer is coming back to me! LOL!  (In case you didn't see my other shoes, here they are 1 and 2! and felt tempted to scrap all the papercrafting and become a shoe designer!)

Now, watch out... I've take soooo many pictures of my shoes, from each and every angle, so please don't get mad at me!

Photobucket

This is the "normal" picture...

Photobucket

Then I got a little adventurous and put one shoe on top of another! Whoa!

Photobucket

And, here is the Bee's scalloped hearts upclose and personal :)  Love how she made these a button! and of course, tied with my fave twine from The Twinery!

Photobucket

Here's the "other" side view of the shoes... here, I used her scalloped frames.  Totally worked well here, I think.

Photobucket

Another artsy shot of an shoe at an angle... okay, are you sick of seeing all these pics yet???  Hope not, 'cause there's more, and you don't have a choice!

Photobucket

Oh, and see the label of the shoe! "Mod Paperie Shoes!"  Yes, I'm a shoe designer now!  I also used a silver pen to put a stitching all through out the shoe to add to the cuteness!

Photobucket

The back view...

Photobucket

See how the heels are made??? My son, when he saw these, he wanted to wear them.  Ah.... no, these are made out from paper.  Don't touch it!  Waaaaahhh.....  (I'm always so afraid that my kids would destroy them before I even get to take the pics!)

Photobucket

Okay, you're almost done! One final pic of my shoes from a different angle.  Yes, they are all different! LOL!

I used Echo Park Little Girl paper collection! LOVE those papers!

So, I bet you're wondering where I got these super cute shoes file??? Right??? Well, it's a secret! It's no fun when everyone gets the same things and makes them, then I won't feel so special... okay, you say not fair??? Well, I guess I would want to know if I ever come across something super cute on your blog, so that's fair...

These shoes are from My Grafico - Lindsay's Stamp Stuff 3D High Heels and they are super easy to make! It's $3.00 but they also have lots of good sales, so be on the look out!

Anyway, that's it! Go over to the Paper Dolls blog to see what two other designers made to inspire you, and then download the super cute challenge SVGs from Bee for you to join in the challenge!
