Meet me at the Creating the Hive!

Have you heard of the new social networking site for all crafters, Creating the Hive?

I just created an account with them today, and spent good part of my night browsing the site.  Instead of blog hopping, and finding cool blogs on your own, you can eliminate all that hard work by searching people by different categories -  for example in my case, papercrafting, card-making, rubber-stamping.. You can set the account so that any new blog posts, too, will be uploaded onto that site.  You can follow people and comment on them, you can view how many people have viewed your posts,  and you can see your rankings compared to other people belonging to the same interest. 

What's different about this site is that you get points for every activity that occurs on your account.  Whether you create an account, update your profile, make a connection, leave comments, upload blog posts, or refer someone to the site - you get points for them.  The more points you have, you would be place higher in the popular rankings and may be featured on the "Featured Members" box. 

It seems like a fun place to hang out - actually, hate to admit, way too fun that it may be another procrastination factor for me...

Another pop-up lever card.

So, the Echo Park papers that I used for the previous card was given to me from Crop Chocolate for being in their Chocolatier program.  You sign up and are given $15 Crop Credit per quarter, and you can use that to purchase any "treat" that you see on their site.  The only requirement is that you submit a project using the product that you purchased.  You then post it in their forum, and then you get another $15 for the next quarter...  get the idea?

Anyway, I created a simple card using the same card base, but using their cardstock stickers that was included to submit as my project. 

 

"Celebrate" Pop-up lever card.

It's hard to believe that we're nearing the end of summer vacation.  I hope that it has been a great summer for you.  We have about 3 rooms left to paint, so we are starting to see the end, and we're soo excited.  Then we are off to friend's cabin on the weekend, which is the highlight of our summer.

Anyway, I would like to share my latest project for SVGCuts.com.  This is combining two of their popular SVG card collections together - Premium Pop-up Card Collection and Breezy Backyard Lever Card Collection.

Odd and Ends again.

I am now underway with painting my "new" home - we've primered the whole area, and started adding in colors last night!  It's so exciting!  I may have to post up pics of my reno when it's all done here!

I have also been working on another project for SVG Cuts, but in the meantime, here's more cards. They are all simple, yet, sometimes less is more :)

My poor neglected Cricut cartridges.

During my little down time today, I decided to try out the Give a Hoot cartridge.  I had this for quite sometime, but since I started purchasing SVG Cuts files, my poor cartridges have been neglected.  I guess it's good though - there's probably soo many cartridges that I would've purchased by now if it wasn't for SVG Cuts.  Then again, I may have to come up with excuses to buy them as well :)

Wow, I'm amazed - I've hit 70 followers!

For those of you that don't know me, I started my blog about 3 months ago.  It's been crazy fun, and I often wonder why I didn't start this sooner.  On a daily basis, I've been making friends, and it's like I've discovered this whole secret world that I never knew it existed.  I so appreciate all your feedbacks, and wanted to thank you all for following my blog - your comments and suggestions all inspire and gives me energy to do more crafting.  I just looked at my blog follower count tonight, and it's 70!  Wow, I'm amazed!

This summer my house is under renovation, so I don't really have my space.  (Not that I had really to begin with - I so long for one of those beautiful craft rooms that many of you have, but no, a craft room is not a part of our renovation plans).  I'm usually stuck in one corner in a room, having to pull out my cartridges out from a box and having to go digging through piles of paper before I find the right one.  Anyway, in the next couple of weeks, we are going to be busy painting the new space, so I will not be around as much.  Crazy - don't know what I was thinking - trying to paint about 9 rooms with three kids.  Following that, new flooring goes in, and then, it's time to move back into our home.  I try to fit a little time to craft daily, but for those that know me, I like to put my time into each project that I do, so I don't post my creations everyday.  So, that means that you are probably going to be seeing less of me for a little while.

For now, though, here's some cards that I have made a while ago that I'll share. These don't really reflect my style, but they have been custom made to suit the recipient.

Using ukelele dingbat, I made a guitar card for my dad.  He loves anything French, so I made this guitar French!

Using Winnie Silhouettes dingbat, I welded characters together, and added balloons, hat and presents from the celebrations cartridge to form a birthday card for a friend that loves Winnie the Pooh.

Autumn Wreath.

It's hard to believe that in a couple of weeks the kids will be back in school again.  With our house renos (we are madly painting every evening now after kids go to sleep), we haven't been able to really get away anywhere this summer, and it's sad to think that end of summer is just around the corner. 

For my next project, I wanted to create something for the home using wonderful autumn files from SVG Cuts.  I decided that I needed a welcoming wreath for our door when we move back into our home next month.  So, that is what I did.
