Autumn Camping Lantern

Today's the day.

It's finally here!!!

I'm off to Chicago at 4PM today!!! YEAH!

I booked my ticket in early February, so yeah, it's been quite the wait. But it's here!

Tonight, I'm gonna hang out with Tamara from Happy Life, Crafty Wife/Paper Play Studio and tomorrow, I will be at CHA as a part of the SVG Cuts' gang. :) SO EXCITED!

I will be taking a lot of pics, so yeah, be prepared to see lots of fun photos of us, and new and fun products that I see!

Today, I'm here to share with you my version of Mary's adorable lantern.  I had papers from October Afternoon - Campfire for a while now, and I knew that this would be the perfect project!

The problem that I had was my papers were 8x8.. and Mary's file was for 12x12 paper... First I gave up.  Then, I came back to it... and hey! If I can break apart the elements and cut each piece itself, then I can do this! That's what I did and it worked!

So, here's my lantern, in a autumn-ish feel :)

I was so excited by the way it turned out! Totally different colors from Mary's, but hey - it totally works!

I was also amazed by how durable this lantern is... It hold its shape very well, and even after the kids played with them, it was still in one piece!

I embellished the top with jute twine and a button. My fave combo.

I cut out some bears from here, which totally matched with the feel of these papers.

I also mixed in some October Afternoon stickers, too - so fun!

I added some focus point to the lantern... with 3D pinecone from here, compass from here, leaves from here, with stickers, buttons and twine.

For those that have never made these lanterns before, they actually light up! You can place a battery operated light from the back!

... and here's a pic taken at night... so adorable, isn't it?

To make things simple, the collections I used here are:

Camp Smores SVG Kit

Forest County SVG Collection

Camping at Fox Ridge SVG Collection

September Afternoon SVG Collection

3D Wintergreens SVG Kit

I had so much fun making this, and already thinking of different theme I can make this in!

Oh, before I let you go - have you seen the latest kit from SVG Cuts - Christmas Cheer SVG Kit.

It's Christmas in July - why not get organized and start making your cards early?

It's so cute! I have to say, my favorites are the java cup one and the department store one!

Have a great crafty day - thanks for stopping by!

I totally appreciate all of you coming here :)
