Ahoy Mateys! It was a pirate packed weekend!

Aaarrrrgggghhhh! Ahoy me hearties!

I just wanted to share with you our pirate party that we held for my son last weekend.  Don't know where all these years went.... can't believe he's 10! Then it suddenly occurred to me that there may only be 8 more years before he decides to leave home.  Yeah, I'm in the middle of preparing this party, and I'm wiping my tears. Do you ever get that? or is it just me?

Anyway, it's nothing spectacular - you've seen way more cooler pirate parties online, but there's no way I'm spending hundreds of dollars on decorations.  Mine is all about doing a similar thing, but for free, or pretty much free. :)

I printed out our invitations on a brown glassine paper and rolled it up like a scroll... (which was super cute, but forgot to take a pic of it!)

I got the kids to pull out all their 'pirate' toys (we're definitely not hardcore pirate fans, but surprised how much there were that accumulated over the years) and that itself already set the mood!

I tried to do as much as I can using free printables online.  Just search for it, and you'll be amazed at how much stuff is out there for us to use! So I printed banners, food pics, and signs  - so easy right?

I also hit dollar stores and Michaels, and bought some plastic jewels and necklace, seashells and jars (which we filled with sand - a little scroll would've been cute, but ran out of time!), and treasure chests which we spray painted.

Anyway, here are some pics!

This guy freaks me out. I hate opening up the closet, forgetting that he's in there and scares me so much! Anyway, he's from our Halloween decor, and came dressed as a pirate to the party. (and I didn't even invite him!)

Each buccaneer was given their own clue to find their own hidden treasure.

Walk the Plank or go home! Pretty easy game, but kids really enjoyed it!

My little kiddies supervising the game.

Can't forget about the grub and grog.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and just had to do it!

My super happy son :)

We also watched a movie afterwards and everyone got a popcorn and a 'bomb' (foil wrapped Kinder Surprise with a string)

...and lastly, but not least, come meet the pirate family!

So, that's it! We had a lot of fun!

Well, fair winds for now!
