Prize winners brewed up!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

I was down at my in-laws last night and had a huge turkey feast! It was so yummy, and can't wait for another Thanksgiving to come around again! (I guess for my American friends - you'll all be having a wonderful meal pretty soon!)

Anyway, thanks to all those who visited my blog and left me some love for Tamara's Happy Life, Crafty Wife Fa-BOO-Lous Inspiration Week! I hope that you all had fun - I sure did! She's so sweet and super talented - how lucky am I to be her friend!

I have a project to share today, but first, I must announce the winners...  (really, if I was so rich - I would LOVE to get you all something - that's how much I appreciate you all for following my work! :))

Drumroll please...

The winner of the 25 cotton muslin bags goes to...

These are adorable, would love to win.

(Please e-mail thienly dot azim at gmail dot com with your full name and address, and will have the Stateline Bags Co send you the bags directly)

The winner of the $10 SVG Cuts gift card goes to...

I love the sparkle! Love it!

fsclassen at gmail dot com

(Please e-mail thienly dot azim at gmail dot com with your e-mail address that you've set SVG Cuts account with!)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
(I will also be e-mailing the winners, but feel free to contact me first!)

So, I've been dying to play with the poison bottle files from SVG Cuts, and finally had a chance last night! Yay! It's a simple project but had lots of fun putting together! I just love how everything just fit together so perfectly with Mary's files!

Anyway - here it is!

Photobucket

I love how this looks with Carta Bella All Hallow's Eve papers! So perfect!

Photobucket

I, of course, had to fit in some jute twine and burlap! Hope you're not getting sick of me using those!

Photobucket

I got some Tim Holtz corked vials last year, and thought that it would make a perfect embellishment here! Oooh, you see? There's a poisonous powder inside... don't ingest it!

Photobucket

This is my FAVORITE part of this project... the witch broom... As I was assembling some wintergreens last night, I had another Thienly A-HA! moment! Use the long needles Evergreen file (I used 2 of them) and wrapped around a wooden dowel and tied with twine. So simple and cute!

I didn't have any buttons/brads to go with this kit, so my handy Epiphany Crafts tool came in handy!

I hope that you liked my project, and while you're here, I also just wanted to let you know about the new THEME going on over at Paper Issues. It's Halloween Harvest theme, so yeah, I know many of you have been busy making fall crafts, I would suggest that you go and link up over there! Gossamer Blue is the sponsor of the 2 week theme, so one lucky winner will receive a kit from them!

Photobucket

If you ever go shopping at Paper Issues, use 'modpaperie' coupon to receive 20% off!

I think that's it!
Thanks for dropping by - have a crafty day!

Happy World Card Making Day! - Unity Challenge!

Happy World Card Making Day!!!

Photobucket

I'm hosting a challenge over at Unity Stamp Company - and I'm super excited!

I hope that all Unity fans can join us over there for hourly challenges for your chance to win some amazing prizes!

So... did you plan this day in advance so you can craft all day? (hehe... as much as I would've LOVED to... I have a working hubby and 3 children... I am going to try, but I don't think it's good parenting to hand them over my ipad and iphone all day!)

Unity is giving away AWESOME prizes! There's a NEW challenge held HOURLY and the winners of those will receive $25 gift card to Unity!

BUT...  if you complete all the challenges (you do NOT have to complete within the hour! You have until the 20th to complete the challenges!) - you will be entered for a GRAND PRIZE... which is a YEAR SUBSCRIPTION to Kit of the Month! ...AND there will be TWO WINNERS!

Now that's worth playing for, right?

(Oh, and if you also complete the Sketch and Theme Challenge - you get a BONUS entry for this, too!)

Photobucket

(I'm going to repost most of what I posted in Unity blog - for more exposure!
Lucky you though - my blog has more pics of my card! lol...)

For this challenge - it's all about TEXTURE.

I love adding texture into my projects.
It simply adds interest.

Texture can come in various forms...
embossed paper.
embossed stamps.
add glitter.
use fabric.
(my fave is canvas and burlap.)
sew it.
add lace trims.
use twine.
corrugated cardboards.
sandpaper! (lol...)

Well, I'm sure you all know what I mean now!

So for this challenge -
Create a card using AT LEAST TWO different textures.

Easy peasy, right?

For an inspiration card, I made a 'give thanks' card...
because for all us Canadians, it's a Thanksgiving weekend!
 Happy Thanksgiving to you!
(Gobble, gobble!)

Photobucket

Don't you just LOVE these stamps that I used?
It's from Give Thanks...
stunning.

Photobucket

You can see that I have all sorts of texture going on here...
burlap, canvas, simanay mesh trim, jute twine, corrugated cardboard and machine stitching.

Makes it interesting, right?
Well, it's your turn!

Here are the deets for the challenges:
1. You MUST use Unity stamps.
2. Your card MUST be made specifically for this challenge.
3. You may not combine challenges.
4.  You may enter as many as you like, but you may only win once.
5.  Deadline iOctober 20th, 2012 at 11:59 pm (central)
Make sure you get all your entries in by then!

Link it up here, and if you do post on Splitcoaststampers forum, use this code: UNITYWCMD2012B

Yummy Candy Corn Treat Box!

Hello all! (to all my SVG Cuts crazy late night owls waiting up for a new kit, and to all my Unity friends from Friends with Flair)

Isn't it pretty special that we actually get to have a new kit even though Leo and Mary is on vacation?  They were so kind enough to think of us... they knew us too well that without a new collection/kit a week would make us go crazy!

SO, have you seen the latest SVG Cuts' kit? If not, you can see it right here - it's the Advent Calendar Trees SVG Kit!

Photobucket

For those who have followed me in the past year all know how I LOVE making Advent calendars, and they also know how useful these kits can be to take a part of it and turn it into something else.

I've made an altered Halloween calendar last year using the Classic Christmas Advent Calendar SVG Kit by altering some of the door sizes, to make it into 31 doors instead of 25.

Photobucket

I've also made another project for Christmas, where I've taken the 3D Letters and made an advent calendar right on it - you can see it here.

Photobucket

Anyway, so with this new kit (as my mind is still on Halloween) - as soon as I saw this, I thought the one tree with the three doors would be PERFECT to make a candy corn box! I didn't alter anything - just made it exactly the way Mary designed it, and didn't even change the size.

...and here's how it turned out!

Photobucket

Isn't it so cute?

To add a little more interest to the black border - I added black polka dot washi tape on it.

For each of the doors, I added a little matching color button with jute twine - which also helped to keep the doors closed - pretty clever... I know :)

I embossed each of the candy corn colors, and added some Unity stamps on it! I've been loving {That's Creepy} stamp set (just used them for my canvas bag project - you still have time to enter - I'm giving away 25 of these bags!) and had to use them again here!

Photobucket

I'll show ya pics upclose... just because I know you want to see it! :)
Photobucket

The cute bat and the ghost that you'll see is from the Spooky Cuties SVG Collection, and these characters are stinkin' cute - it makes any project adorable! I'm not very good at drawing in the eyes, so I resort to the googly eyes - which even makes them cuter!

Photobucket

The word 'eek' is using the 'another typewriter' font (which is also the font that I use for my watermark on my pics! Can't you tell I love that font?)

Photobucket

So, this box is actually pretty good size... it measures 10 inches tall, and each compartment is decent size, good enough to hold a little toy, or even this amount of candy in the middle one! (It's pretty deep, so it holds a lot!)

Photobucket

See how fun this kit is? You can do so much with them!

Hope you liked my project today and that I've inspired you in some way! :)

Thanks for stopping by here today - and while I've got you... join me Saturday for Unity Stamp Company's World Card Making Day celebration! There's hourly challenge with prizes to be won, and I'm hosting one of the challenges, so I hope to see all my Unity friends there! :)

Fa-BOO-Lous Guest Designer: Muslin Bags

Hooray! Thanks for joining me here at the Fa-BOO-Lous Halloween Inspiration Week party hosted by Tamara from Happy Life, Crafty Wife!

Photobucket

I feel so excited that I'm a part of this! Whoo-hoo!

I've got TWO posts up today, with two giveaways, so make sure that you visit both! :) Here's the other one!

Today - we're showcasing some Fa-BOO-Lous cotton muslin (like canvas)bags from State Line Bag Co.  (Please also go 'like' their FB page and let them know I sent ya!)  These bags are PERFECT for 'customizing' into pretty much anything! You can stamp on it, sew on it, iron-on transfer it, draw on it, paint on it, whatever your little (or big) heart desires!

You can use these to put a little gift inside, use them for favours, or for your craft projects... which you know have endless possibilities!

So, being on a Unity Stamp Company design team, I, of course had to STAMP on it! Surprise, surprise! There's a super cute stamp set that inspired me to make the bag!

Photobucket

Cute, right? A simple plain bag turns into this... so fun!

I stamped a witch hat onto another canvas, stitched onto a black burlap to make a little tag. I find that the black Memento ink stamps onto the canvas the best.  Other ink that I've tried looks faded, and hard to see the images. This was attached to the bag with an eyelet. Oh, and if you see, I pulled out the 'regular' string that comes as a part of the bag, and replaced it with licorice twine :P

Photobucket

I wanted 'Trick or Treat' to be my main caption, so I stitched a layer of natural burlap behind it to make it pop.

Photobucket

I love that little spider hanging down from the top... looking mischievous with those googly eyes!

At the bottom corner of the bag, is my usual clustering of the buttons... and washi tape adhered and just completes the look! See that pretty orange star flair button? That's from Paper Play Studio - talented Tamara's flair button shop!

Photobucket

Oh, and I put a button though the twine drawstring... just added to the cuteness!

Here's the stamp set I used, in case you're interested! {That's creepy...}

Photobucket

See how fun it is to dress up a bag? Here's a chance for you to WIN some bags for you to CUSTOMIZE them!

Now, onto some fun!

Here's a giveaway from Happy Life, Crafty Wife's blog today... go leave some love for your chance to win!

Photobucket

There's a Fright Night Friends stamp set from My Thoughts Exactly (did you know that I used to design for that company? They make amazing stamps!), bags from State Line Bag Co, We R Memory Keepers Sew Ribbon and $10 Gift Card to Paper Play Studio! Would't you LOVE To win this?

Be sure to 'like' her FB page as well, if you haven't done so! You're missing out! :)

There's also a 'Ghostess with a Mostess' challenge going on over at Tamara's blog - be sure to link up any projects that have GHOST for your chance to win another amazing package!

...AND I will also be giving away 25 of the 5x7 bags from State Line Bags Co.  I will be drawing a random winner from comments here next Monday, and the bags will be shipped to you directly from the company.

Thanks for stopping by... have a crafty day!... Oh, and if you haven't been to my other post yet - I have a giveaway for $10 SVG Cuts gift card!

Fa-BOO-Lous Guest Designer: SVG Cuts

Welcome to Happy Life, Crafty Wife's Fa-BOO-Lous Halloween Inspiration Week! I am so excited to be a part of her amazing inspirational week, and today, it's SVG Cuts' day!! Whoo-hoo!

Photobucket

I've got TWO posts for you today (DIFFERENT projects) that I've made to celebrate this, so please be sure to go check out the other one HERE! (Make sure you comment as I have a little GIVEAWAY on each as well!)

So... where do I first begin?

I met Tamara through SVG Cuts and we've been {awesome.} friends since about 2 years ago! We've been in several teams together (SVG Cuts, Epiphany Crafts, Paper Issues... not to mention we had a BLOG together for awhile!) ...so yeah, I KNOW her quite well :)  I used to stalk her blog when not very many of you knew she existed... I wanted to become friends with her SOOO BAD and look at her now! (I guess I have good tastes in crafters! lol..)  (I've even slept with her in the same room this summer... hehe... I know I'm lucky! Sounds weird, it's all good - we just attended CHA with the SVG Crew)  Seriously, I just love her to pieces - she's talented, she's makes me laugh, and she's been there to support me all along :)  She's a very special friend, and feeling blessed that our paths have crossed! Thanks Tamara :)

SVG Cuts (obviously sells SVG files!) and they are darn awesome at it! SVG files (for those that are new to this) are downloadable files that you can cut on your cutting machine.  The cutting machine that I use and that I love it the Sizzix eclips ;) They have weekly free gifts with purchase, and have tutorial videos and trailers for the new kits which are MUST-SEE!

Anyway, so for my SVG Cuts' project, I made something simple, but I think that it's super cute! I took the witch hat box from the recent kit, and 'BLING'ed it up a bit :)

Photobucket

I was inspired to make a hat like the one from Haunted Hemlock Cards SVG Kit, and put some of those files together.  I was determined to make everything GLITTERY... and started cutting the hat in silver and black, not realizing the other colors that I had did not go with the image that I wanted... GAH!!!! (Actually these things happen VERY OFTEN for me... I get excited and start to cut... only to realize I don't have enough paper! It gives me reasons to go to scrapbooking store VERY OFTEN! lol...)

Thankfully, I had Mister Huey Calico Shine mist that added shine. and glitter. to everything.  I sprayed them all onto AC Cardstock, and voila - I had a completely different cardstock! Yay!

Here's the main part upclose...

Photobucket

Love that spider? I stocked up those, along with that button that you see last year at Michaels after Halloween.  Can't wait to do that again this year!

The flower is from here, and the rest of the leaves that you see are from this kit :) Isn't it amazing how you can combine all these files together? I love doing that with SVG Cuts' files!

...and had to add my fave wires with stars and bats flying out of the hat :)

Photobucket

Guess what pics I forgot to take? This witch hat is a box... so it opens up! You can store some candies in there, and makes a fa-BOO-lous gift! The hat portion lifts up! It's crazy, isn't it?

So... onto the prizes... and deets for the week:

1. Make sure that you go to Tamara's blog and leave her some love for your chance to win Fa-BOO-Lous prizes! (There's prizes daily, so make sure you check all of them out!)

ABSOLUTELY AH-MAZING!

2. If you haven't 'liked' her FB page, please do - it's like a treat to see her posts go up on my FB wall :) (Tell her that I sent ya! She loves me already, but can't hurt for her to love me more! lol...)

VINTAGE OFFICE a'la CUTE

Photobucket

SOOO cute, isn't it? I just loved it so much, I had to make something right away! I knew these would go PERFECTLY with my October Afternoon 9-5 papers that I've been hoarding, waiting for the right moment to come :)

I have lots of pics, so I'm warning you in advance! :)

Photobucket

I thought that it would be super cute to take a modern phone and combine that with retro looking papers. I bet that girl in the phone can't wait until her work is done to see her love! :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

If you notice the date, it's today!!! Yep, it's a card from a modern day world :)

...and here's the altered clipboard that I made! (Hope that you're not sick of seeing my altered clipboards yet!)

Photobucket

These stamps were perfect to create a clipboard - where you can organize your bills and errands that you need to get done.

Photobucket

I took strips of papers, and washi tape to make the base of the clipboard.

Here's 'I'm a good girl' clip - all caught up, everything paid :)

Photobucket

...and here's the 'oops' clip - hopefully, not too much will sit inside this one!

Photobucket

(Notice that pretty flair? I'm again spreading my love for Tamara - her flair button shop is here)

That's it!
